Remediation Design

When contamination is identified, the next step is corrective action. A Corrective Action Plan (CAP) consists of the necessary activities to eliminate or mitigate the source of contamination through a variety of techniques. These include excavation and disposal, in-situ treatment, isolation, natural attenuation and monitoring and others. The CAP also defines the type of testing needed to validate the effectiveness of the cleanup activity and the regulatory standards used to determine satisfactory completion. Along with quality assurance standards, hazardous material handling procedures, safety plans, and related topics, the design should provide a comprehensive guidance to complete the remediation, satisfy all permitting and regulatory requirements, and validation sampling and monitoring.
